FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Charlotte, North Carolina - April 7, 2001 - Northeast Data Corp. today announced the NED Image Printer Driver Version 2.0. The NED Image Printer Driver redirects print output from any application to the display.
"Version 2.0 adds color printing, multiple image resolutions, a large selection of paper sizes including a custom paper size, and application control of print file notification and job completion status," says Wade Cobb, President at Northeast Data Corp. "It has all the features people have been asking for, and brings the flexibility of the 95/98 version of the driver up to that of our popular driver for Windows 2000. People really appreciate the ability to buy the source code version of the driver at a great price. Registered users get the source code for the Exit32.dll, which lets them do just about anything they need to do. Users can also buy the source code for the driver itself. Our 2-tiered architecture, with the driver separated from the exit32 DLL, gives programmers a lot of flexibility in customizing the print stream without the need to understand the intricacies of Windows printer drivers. We've been overwhelmed with the success of the first version, and excited to see all the ingenious ways people have found to use the driver for enhancing their imaging solutions."
The printer driver installs just like any standard Windows '95 or Windows '98 printer driver. The driver icon shows up in the Printers group. A separate DLL is called by the driver during each print job and supplies the DLL with job information and bitmaps for each page. The DLL supplied with the demo and registered versions writes the bitmap to a TIFF file. Monochrome prints are stored as a multi-page CCIT Group 4 compressed image. Color prints are stored in an uncompressed multi-page 24-bit color image TIFF format. Registered users receive source code for the DLL. Our licensing agreement allows developers to redistribute the driver and DLL executable code with no royalties.
The NED Image Printer Driver is available now from Northeast Data Corp. and its distributors. For a demo of this and other software from Northeast Data Corp., please visit our web site at: http://www.nedatacorp.com
